Trip Introduction

Island Peak (6187m), situated in Imja valley in the Everest region near the Mt. Everest (8848m), is one of the most beautiful peaks in the Nepal Himalayas. Island Peak which is also known as the Imja Tse by the locals is a popular choice among mountaineers and trekkers for climbing peaks in Nepal. The gorgeous Island Peak (6189m) can be climbed by anyone with the sound physical condition, despite having no climbing experience.

The 23-days Island Peak Climbing journey not only provides an opportunity to be on the top of the Island Peak (6189m) but also gives a chance to explore the Gokyo region and the Everest Base Camp. Throughout the trek, you pass through a series of beautiful turquoise lakes in the Gokyo valley, the famous passes like Cho La (5420m) and Kongma La (5535m) and the Everest Base Camp which offers an unreal view of Khumbu Icefall. Island Peak Climbing also takes trekkers to the viewpoints like Gokyo Ri (5357m) and Kala Patthar (5545m) which offers trekkers extraordinary views of different mountains like Nuptse (7861m), Lhotse (8188m), Cho Oyu (8188m), Everest (8848m), and many more along with the sunrise view over the Himalayas. The journey to Island Peak goes by ascending and descending through the dense forest of blooming rhododendrons, oaks, pines, junipers and other alpine flowers. The trail crosses high passes, five lakes of Gokyo valley, rocky path, hidden valleys, high monasteries, the lateral moraine of Khumbu Glacier and world’s second largest glacier Ngozumpa. You walk past several villages which provide trekkers an opportunity to learn and understand the Sherpa culture, tradition, and their lifestyle. The climb to Island Peak (6189m) can be strenuous as you summit along the rock ridge to a glacier. The top of the peak offers a mind-blowing panorama of different gigantic mountains, including the Everest (8848m).
