Mount Himlung 7126M, lies in the secluded Mustang region, on the border of Nepal and Tibet. The mountain was open for climbing in 1992 and the first summit to the peak was made in the same year by a Japanese team of Mr. Akio Koizumi. Himlung is categorized as technically easy and ideal entry-level for 7000ers with the Base camp being set up at an altitude of 4900m & 3 high camps i.e C-1 5450m, C-2 6150m, C-3 6375m. Due to less technical nature the mountain is easy to ascent however one should not underestimate the Himlung, as a large part of the ascent has to be covered at great heights. Steeper sections and exposed passages are secured with fixed ropes. From the summit you can enjoy an incredible 360 ° view over Dhaulagiri, Annapurna to Manaslu and towards the Tibetan plateau.
Also, the journey to Himlung passes through the village of Nar and Phu where you can experience the traditional lifestyle of Tibetan Culture. The trail that leads to the Himlung base camp is quiet and less explored which passes through high peaks and passes, glaciers, remote villages, forests, Gumbas, and unique cultural settlements.
We at Kaitu Expedition can assure the best possible expedition logistics support to ensure safe and successful climb under the leadership and guidance of professional experts with years of guiding experience. ESSENTIAL INFORMATIONS:
PASSPORT AND VISA INFORMATION
Your passport needs to be valid for at least six (6) months after your journey ends, and should have a minimum of one (1) blank visa page for entry and exit stamps.
CASH & CREDIT CARDS
We recommend travelling with some cash, and at least two different major credit cards, such as Visa and Mastercard, so you have backup if your card is not accepted or lost. Access to ATM machines is available in Kathmandu but limited to none in rural areas. Contact your bank and credit card companies to let them know where and when you’ll be travelling, as well as confirm any foreign transaction fees.
When carrying cash, try to travel only with recently issued currency in smaller denominations; wrinkled or torn bills are not accepted. Only exchange currency at authorized outlets such as currency exchanges, ATMs or hotels and save receipts as they may be required for exit.
PHYSICAL CONDITION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Every mountain is another mountain regardless of its height. Climbers must be physically and mentally fit with a good deal of mountaineering experience and skills for your own safety and welfare of the team. Kaitu Expedition requires our clients to have basic knowledge of mountaineering skills and experience of expedition life. The clients should be confident and comfortable to adopt Himalayan mountaineering practices such as using fixed lines to ascend, descend and crevasse crossing using ladders.
BOOKING
Booking confirmation must be done 45 days before departure date from Kathmandu. A non-refundable 50% advance payment must be made after signing the Service Agreement between the two parties 30 days before the departure date. Clients must provide a Medical Report signed by a physician stating otherwise healthy and fit.
FOOD
Food will be of the highest standard possible, given the remoteness of the situation. We will take meals (breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) in lodges and tea houses along the trail. And for the Chulu Base Camp set up, we will be sending Kitchen staffs, tents and equipment from Kathmandu. We are able to accommodate most dietary requirements but do please inform us in advance.
