Island peak (6,189m/20,305ft) was named by members of the 1953 British Mount Everest expedition team because it appeared as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. It was later renamed in 1983 to Imja Tse but Island Peak remains the popular choice. Island Peak is one of the main climbing peaks in the Everest Region of Nepal with an impressive and highly glaciated West Face that rises from the Lhotse Glacier. The peak is best for physically fit trekkers with no experience in mountain expeditions. It is one of the easy choices for beginner climbers who wish to enter into the world of mountaineering due to very little technical aspect. It can be climbed in both the spring and autumn seasons.
Kaitu Expedition can assure the best possible expedition logistics support to ensure safe and successful climb under the leadership and guidance of professional experts with years of guiding experience. The mountain decides the rest. We believe that with our logistic support and experience coupled with your passion, determination and willpower, Kaitu Expedition can help make your dream come true with memorable experiences and amazing stories to share - A journey of a lifetime.

We recommend travelling with some cash, and at least two different major credit cards, such as Visa and Mastercard, so you have backup if your card is not accepted or lost. Contact your bank and credit card companies to let them know where and when you’ll be travelling, as well as confirm any foreign transaction fees.
When carrying cash, try to travel only with recently issued currency in smaller denominations; wrinkled or torn bills are not accepted. Only exchange currency at authorized outlets such as currency exchanges, ATMs or hotels and save receipts as they may be required for exit.

Climbers must be physically and mentally fit with a good deal of mountaineering experience and skills for your own safety and welfare of the team. Kaitu Expedition requires our clients to have basic knowledge of mountaineering skills and experience of expedition life. The clients should be confident and comfortable to adopt Himalayan mountaineering practices such as using fixed lines to ascend, descend and crevasse crossing using ladders.
