Mount K2, 8611M is the second-highest mountain in the world located in the China-Pakistan border between Baltistan in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of northern Pakistan, and the Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County of Xinjiang, China.
Mount K2 is also known as “Savage Mountain” due to extreme difficulty to ascent. Although the summit of Everest is at a higher altitude, K2 is a more difficult and dangerous climb, due in part to its more inclement weather and comparatively greater height from base to peak. As of June 2018, only 367 people have completed the ascent. 86 people have died attempting the climb according to the list maintained on the List of deaths on eight-thousanders.
The summit was reached for the first time by the Italian climbers Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni, on the 1954 Italian Karakoram expedition led by Ardito Desio. It is more difficult and hazardous to reach the peak of K2 from the Chinese side, so it is usually climbed from the Pakistani side. Ascents have almost always been made in July and August, the warmest times of the year; Mount K2's more northern location makes it more susceptible to inclement and colder weather.
Climbing the Second highest mountain in the world is strenuous and challenging but surely possible if you can dream it. Exposure to extreme altitude, severe weather conditions, inherent risk and hazards make the climbing process adventurous and thrilling yet rewarding. The key to a successful climb depends on proper planning, preparation, professional guidance, and support.
Kaitu Expedition can assure the best possible expedition logistics support to ensure a safe and successful climb under the leadership and guidance of professional experts with years of guiding experience. The mountain decides the rest. We believe that with our logistic support and experience coupled with your passion, determination and willpower, Kaitu Expedition can help make your dream come true with memorable experiences and amazing stories to share - A journey of a lifetime.
