Khang Karpo 6646m, is one of the recently opened (2014) Trekking peaks in the Rolwaling Valley of Eastern Nepal. The mountain stands at the end of Ripimo Glacier on the borderline between Nepal and Tibet. We will use the North West ridge to the summit, which passes through numerous hanging Glaciers. The Climb to the Summit is challenging but more rewarding as it offers the closer view of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho-oyu, Shisha Pangma, Gyachung Khang, Nuptse, Cho-Garu (Melungtse) and many more Peaks around it.
The path to this mountain leads us through the Rolwaling valley – one of the off-beaten trekking routes of Eastern Nepal. Being the least explored region by tourists, it provides you with a quite unique trekking experience encountering nature in its virgin form. The Rolwaling Valley has equal religious value as it is believed that the Buddhist Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) rested and meditated here for several months. It can be evidenced from the stone carvings and monasteries in the area.
We are proud to include that the Khang Karpo’s first Ascent was made by the team lead by our Director Mr. Nima Tenzing Sherpa with the fellow Climbing member Squash Falconer (UK), Alison Levine (US), Kath Staniland (UK), Gopal Shrestha, Phurba Tenjing Sherpa, Tsering Pemba and Lakpa Nurbu Sherpa (Nepal) in the year 2016.
We at Kaitu Expedition can assure the best possible expedition logistics support to ensure safe and successful climb under the leadership and guidance of professional experts with years of guiding experience. The mountain decides the rest. We believe that with our logistic support and experience coupled with your passion, determination and willpower, Kaitu Expedition can help make your dream come true with memorable experiences and amazing stories to share - A journey of a lifetime.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATIONS:
PASSPORT AND VISA INFORMATION
Your passport needs to be valid for at least six (6) months after your journey ends, and should have a minimum of one (1) blank visa page for entry and exit stamps.
CASH & CREDIT CARDS
We recommend travelling with some cash, and at least two different major credit cards, such as Visa and Mastercard, so you have backup if your card is not accepted or lost. Access to ATM machines is available in Kathmandu but limited to none in rural areas. Contact your bank and credit card companies to let them know where and when you’ll be travelling, as well as confirm any foreign transaction fees.
When carrying cash, try to travel only with recently issued currency in smaller denominations; wrinkled or torn bills are not accepted. Only exchange currency at authorized outlets such as currency exchanges, ATMs or hotels and save receipts as they may be required for exit.
PHYSICAL CONDITION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Every mountain is another mountain regardless of its height. Climbers must be physically and mentally fit with a good deal of mountaineering experience and skills for your own safety and welfare of the team. Kaitu Expedition requires our clients to have basic knowledge of mountaineering skills and experience of expedition life. The clients should be confident and comfortable to adopt Himalayan mountaineering practices such as using fixed lines to ascend, descend and crevasse crossing using ladders.
BOOKING
Booking confirmation must be done 45 days before departure date from Kathmandu. A non-refundable 50% advance payment must be made after signing the Service Agreement between the two parties 30 days before the departure date. Clients must provide a Medical Report signed by a physician stating otherwise healthy and fit.
FOOD
Food will be of the highest standard possible, given the remoteness of the situation. We will take meals (breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) in lodges and teahouses along the trail. And for the Chulu Base Camp set up, we will be sending Kitchen staffs, tents and equipment from Kathmandu. We are able to accommodate most dietary requirements but do please inform us in advance.
TEAM
We believe in delivering the highest standard of service and care before and after the completion of a trip. A team of dedicated professionals and experienced Guide & Sherpas will provide support during the trek and for the summit climb as well.
